Fulhams midfielder Papa Bouba Diop has been signed in by Portsmouth on a three year contract.

Harry Redknapp, Pompey’s manager has been closely following the moves of the huge midfielder for much of summers and has finally landed his catch.

The indecision that had characterised Gary O’Neil’s transfer to middlesborough had delayed the Diop deal almost to closure time on the deadline date for transfers. But once O’Neil had finally accepted his move to the riverside, the way opened up in the last minute for Diop to join Portsmouth.

With over 70 premier League appearances on his back, the Senegal international foot ball player had been playing for The cottages since joing them from French side Lens in 2004.

Danny Murphy’s deal was next on line for the Fullham’s boss Lawrie Sanchez.It is said that the former Liverpool star has been at Craven cottage for talks with a view to a switch to the other side of London.

Aston Villa Nabs Salifou

Aston Villa has managed to sign in Togo international Moustapha Salifou for an undisclosed transfer fee.

Moustapha Salifou now becomes Aston Villa boss Martin O’Neill’s third acquisition during the last 48 hours.

Salifou is a 24 year old midfielder who is moving to Aston Villa from Swiss football team FC Wil on a one year contract.

Salifou had previously played in all 3 of Togo’s group matches in the 2006 World Cup in Germany alongside Arsenal Striker Emmanuel Adebayor.

The other 2 players to be signed into villa park in the last 2 days include Zat Knight and Curtis Davies. Both the new other new signees are defenders. The three new players in Aston Villa brings the total transfers to the club to six in the summer transfer period.

“He has great determination to succeed at this level and may well prove to be an excellent asset,”

Aston Villa owner Randy Lerner has now spent more than £40 million on new players since buying off the club 12 months ago.

West Ham Pulls a Quickie Before Transfer Season is Over

In a last minute effort to bolster their attacking force, West Ham have managed to get New castle’s Nolberto Solano on a free transfer deal and Wigan’s Henri Camara on loan. The quickly arranged and effected football teams’ transfers were effected just days before the closure of the transfer window.

Alan Curbishley, in a desperate effort to bring in a stronger right-sided midfielder pulled all strings taught and went jugular to bring in the 2 attackers. The loan and free transfer was necessary strengthen the right side attack quarters after the newly summer signed Kieran Dyer got a broken leg.

Magpies boss Sam Allardyce had earlier in the summer said that he had no intention of letting Solano leave but that circumstances had changed. Solano has been recalled by national team of Peru after an absence of two years and most possibly Allardyce might have free traded him now that he can’t be tied down.

Camara, the Senegal striker was brought in from Wigan. The 30 year old Camara has moved to Upton Park for a loan transfer that is a season long to further West Hams front right attack squad.

Lassana Diarra Joins the Gunners Arsenal

Arsenal tactical boss, Arsene Wenger has gone full length to acquire the versatile former chelsea right back Lassana Diarra.

The Gunners manager has for a long time had his sights on the French player Diarra, who had played Against Arsenal in last season’s Carling Cup final.

Diarra on his part also praised Arsenal’s French manager and credited him for organizing the free flowing Arsenal’s football game plan. Diarra actually said that his decision to accept the Arsenal transfer was pegged on his admiration of the teams more organized and synchronized play.

In his own words, Diarra said “ I have great respect for the manager Arsene Wenger and am attracted by his style of football that the team plays,” Diarra told the Arsenal’s official website.

He further said, “ Of course I am excited by what the future holds and keen to play my part in helping Arsenal fight for trophies this season and for years to come.”

Diarra, a natural in the mid-field defense had been playing the right back position in Chelsea. A Possible fact that may have left him yearning to find a place where his actual comfort play zone is recognized. Wenger is impressed by the versatility of the young player in being able to double up in the two positions despite his orientation in the midfield back.

In Wenger’s own words he said, “ Lassana is a multi-functional player, making him a great addition o our squad.” Further he said that “ not only is he hardworking, he has a creative edge and is comfortable playing in the middle of the pitch or at right back.
